How to Plan a Wedding at a Bristol Pub

Back to the Journal

From ceilidhs to cheese-cakes — a practical guide to throwing a characterful pub wedding at the Alma, from first enquiry to last dance.

There is no single template for an Alma wedding — and that, we think, is the whole point. We host half-day celebrations and full-day takeovers, sit-down meals and informal buffets, ceilidhs and karaoke, and the occasional cheese-cake in place of a tiered sponge. If you are considering a pub wedding in Bristol, here is how a day with us tends to come together.

Start with the space

Our newly refurbished pub restaurant is a tasteful, neutral starting point; the traditional bar adds the character. We can host between 30 and 80 guests and, because every element is down to you, the day can be as relaxed or as styled as you like.

Food, cooked in-house

Everything is cooked fresh in our own kitchen, with seasonal, locally sourced produce wherever possible. Menus run from an informal buffet to a full three-course sit-down meal, and we are happy to tailor example menus — including canapés and evening buffets — to your tastes. Our wedding menus are a good place to start.

The practical bits

We typically book weddings from January through September, with October and November available by arrangement. Bookings open a year or more in advance, and the best first step is an enquiry via our events team — we'll talk dates, numbers and the shape of your day, and take it from there.
